INTENDED USE

Human Epididymis Protein 4 (HE4) Rapid Test Kit is used to detect human epididymis protein 4 in human blood samples and is used clinically to monitor theefficacy of ovarian cancer.
Ovarian cancer is the third most common tumor of the femalereproductive system,but it has the highest mortality rate.Due to the lack of early symptoms, it is not easy to be detected, and the 5-year survival rate of patients drops from 70-90% to 20% with the increase of the time of cancer, so early diagnosis of ovarian cancer is crucial for the cure rate of antimicrobials.
Human epididymis protein 4 (HE4) was first found in the epithelial cells of the distal human epididymis. It consists of two core structures: a natural N-terminal glycosylated protein of about 25 KDa and two whey acidic protein core regions(WAP, consisting of four disulfide bond core regions and eight cysteine residues).It has been found to be abundantly expressed in ovarian cancer, especially in plasmacytoid ovarian cancer and endometrial carcinoma. It is now considered that HE4 is a novel tumor marker for ovarian cancer, which is of high clinical value, especially for the diagnosis of early-stage ovarian cancer, disease monitoring, post-surgical recurrence monitoring, as well as identification and diagnosis of benign and malignant tumors. The diagnostic specificity of HE4 for ovarian cancer is higher than that of CA125(76.6%-86.5%)(about 90%-95%). Currently, there is no clinically acceptable threshold value for HE4 in monitoring the progression of ovarian cancer patients. However, studies have shown that setting the HE4 threshold at 60 pmol/L improves the clinical sensitivity of HE4 compared to the current global thresholds (70 pmol/L for premenopausal and140 pmol/L for postmenopausal) without decreasing the specificity, and also allows HE4 to be used more conveniently in a non-professional setting regardless of a woman's menopausal status.
